Solar Air Conditioning – What are the Advantages
Nowadays, Solar Energy is used for various purposes. The advancement in science has brought changes in the life of a man. There are several impossible things, which have now became possible due to the advancement in science. Among various types of inventions that are run by the solar energy, one of the marvelous things is the solar air conditioners. Although it looks very odd, that how the solar system or energy could make our houses cool, however; this is now a fact that the solar energy has been captured by various means, and it is used for different purposes.
The solar air conditioning can be done easily where there is sunlight in abundance. These are the areas where the room temperature remains higher, and hence air conditioning is necessary to cool down the environment. These air conditioners are ideal for these places since the air conditioners will have abundant sunlight for the generation of energy, and in addition these air conditioners provide the cost-effective solution for lowering down the room temperature.
There are several forms of solar air conditioning systems. These air conditioners work either actively or passively. The active forms of these air conditioners are further divided into two sub-categories, like solar absorption air conditioner and solar desiccant air conditioner. The thermal collectors are present in solar absorption units which absorb the solar heat, and use it for separating the mixture of absorbent fluid and the refrigerant. After separation, the refrigerant is condensed and then evaporated. The whole process generates cool air which brings the room temperature at lower desired level. The solar desiccant units, on the other hand, absorb moisture from the air and as the result of that the air in the room becomes drier and cooler. The passive form of solar air conditioning system is a big one and therefore, it is built in the house. This system possesses solar chimneys with a tower on the south of the house. The top end of the tower is made glazed, so that the appropriate amount of heat from the sun could be absorbed and used for running the air conditioner. The warm air inside the room creates a vacuum in this system which takes up the air and sends to the water pipes for cooling. Once the air cools down, it decreases the room temperature.
There are several advantages of solar air conditioning. It is cost-effective and saves the energy. This system does not emit the gases which produce green house effect like Carbon Monoxide and Dioxide. This system safe guards the environment and does not increase pollution.
