Cataclysm Professions – Everything You Need to Know
Many years have gone by after the release of World of Warcraft and the Best MMO game of all time just in december 2010 released there third expansion. Since the orginial world of warcraft professions have been there to make your character different by offering you things that only player with that profession could have. Over the years, they were never neglected and were always an important part of every champion.
Today we have two types of professions in the game: a. Primary professions or Major Professions b. Secondary professions or Lesser Professions Looking at primary professions you will be able to split them into to groups: a. Crafting professions b. And Professions that you can use to gather the materials for the crafting professions -Tailoring -Skinning -Enchanting -Herbalism -Leatherworking -Mining -Alchemy -Blacksmithing -Inscription -Jewlcrafting – Engineering Secondary professions are: -Cooking -Fishing -First Aid -Archeology
When looking at choosing a profession, make note that you can pick up all of the secondary profession, there is no limit, but with the primary professions you will only be allowed 2 at one time, but yes of course you can leave one for another if you fell like you have made a mistake. Secondary don’t firestly affect your character like primary professions do, cooking is a secondary profession and it can give you food which will buff your character for a time period, and archeology can be use to dig up random epics, but beside that secondary professions have no direct affect on your character.
Primary professions on the other hand will provide your character with certain upgrades when considering stats or items. So the next question is which do what and what is the best one for your class?
Before this newest expansion professions like engernieering use to stand out because player with this profession could use rocket boosters and belt buckles, but now blizzard has made a great effort to balance the game and this is reflected in the professions. However, they still differ and when picking professions you might consider your class and the type of content you are going after.
Looking into Crafting Professions Tailoring Tailoring benefits arethe following: a. Unique back enchants : – Darkglow embroidery – chance to restore 800 mana on spell cast – Lightweave embroidery – chance to increase spell power by 580 on spell cast – Swordguard embroidery – chance to increase your attack power by 1000 when dealing damage by melee or ranged attacks.
b. With tailoring you will also be able to create epic cloth items as well as leg enchants that you can use or sell and access to cheaper leg enchants that are intended for spell casters.
Recommended for: warlocks, mages and priests.
Leatherworking Leatherworking benefits are: a. Unique bracer enchants: – Draconic Embossment – Agility (130 Agility) – Draconic Embossment – Stamina (130 Stamina) – Draconic Embossment – Strength (130 Strength) – Draconic Embossment – Intellect (130 Intellect) b. Leatherworking will allow you to craft mail and leather gear, depending on the special side of leatherworking you choose, also you will be able to make a leg enchant like the tailor but for tanks and melee and ranged physical DPS classes.
Leatherworking is recommended for rogues, feral druids, enhancement shamans and hunters.
Blacksmithing Blacksmithing benefits are: a. Unique extra sockets on gloves and bracers as well as cheaper belt buckles for your own use. Extra sockets in your gear mean extra gems thus higher stats of your own choice.
b. Also as a blacksmith you are able to creat epic weapons, armor and shields for use or to be sold.
Blacksmithing is recommended mostly to tanks and physical plate dps classes such as: Death knights, Warriors and paladins.
Alchemy Alchemy benefits are somewhat different from the previous professions. If you decide to choose alchemy, you will be able to craft a large variety of elixirs, potions and flasks. Depending on your specialization (elixir, potion or transmutation) you will be able to gain an extra item when crafting.
All alchemists have more benefits from any flask they use i.e. if you drink Flask of the Wind you will receive 380 agility rather than 300. In addition, flasks will last for an additional hour. In order to gain a stat upgrade when you are not using a flask you will be able to create a special kind of flask that will not be consumed when used providing you with extra 80 intellect, agility or strength depending on your class and spec.
Recommended for: All DPS and healing classes.
Inscription
Inscription does also give you a stat increase and even though it not the most popular, it is still equal to all other professions. With this profession, you will also be able to create epic off hand items for casters and Darkmoon cards that are always very popular at start of any expansion as they can be collected and turned in at the Darkmoon fair for very good trinkets.
Jewlcrafting If your interested in one of the best professions for obtaining gold and giving great stat bonuses then jewlcrafting if for you. For the stat bonus you will be able to equip 3 gems that will give you additional stats, then normal gems. I.e. For an example your normal strength gem gives 40 strength, but yours will give 67 which when you add it up you actually get 1 additional stat then other professions.
Recommended for: all specs and classes.
Enchanting Enchanting allows you to enchant armor or weapons and disenchant items into enchanting materials. Benefits of enchanting when considering stats are the options of making unique ring enchants: 40 agility, intellect, strength or 60 stamina.
Engineering If your looking for the most interesting and fun profession, engineering is the one, you will also be able to craft an epic helm for every class. also you will be able to enchant and attach your belt, glove and claok with special crafted items like rooket boots for example. What is most important are the glove enchants because you can enchant your gloves with 480 intellect for 12 seconds when used with a 1 min cooldown. However, the patch that is coming at the start of February 2011 will also give enchanters enchants that will increase your Agility or Strength by the same amount. These changes will make engineering one if not the best profession you can pick up.
Gathering professions Skinning Provides you with ability to skin dead beasts and receive leather that is used for leatherworking. With skinning, you will earn experience each time you skin thus increasing your leveling speed. Stat benefits are passive – you gain 80 critical strike rating.
Mining Mining will allow you to mine ore needed for blacksmithing, engineering and jewlcrafting. Each time you mine, you will gain experience. Mining also provides you with 120 Stamina.
Recommended for tanking classes.
Herbalism With herbalism, you will be able to gather herbs used to create potions, flasks or elixirs with alchemy or to be milled for ink used by scribes. Herbalism also gives you a unique ability with a 2 min cooldown that will instantly heal you and provide you with 240 haste rating.
