Curtain Poles – A Buyers Guide to Curtain Poles and Tracks
Curtain poles are a fundamental part of your home, whether you notice them very often or not. Without them, your curtains would simply fall to the ground and you would be left with an unwanted lack of privacy.
There are certain things to consider when buying your curtain poles in order to avoid a Home Decor disaster. Believe or not there are many different kinds to choose from and whilst you may not eventually notice much difference when your decorating is complete, .
How wide are your windows? Perhaps, the single most important thing to consider when buying curtain poles, too short, or too long for that matter and they may end up looking very silly indeed, or worse still, not working at all. The size and shape of windows varies widely from home to home. There are small square windows, long rectangular windows or huge bay windows and many more besides. Bay windows will usually require a special kind of curtain pole, not surprisingly called, bay window curtain poles, which have angles and corners carefully built in, to enable the curtains to gracefully glide around.
You need to try and imagine what your room will look like when the decoration and furnishing is complete and choose appropriate curtain poles or tracks to match. Different colours, different finishes and different styles all need to be paid attention to. If you are going for a modern feel in a certain room, then Victorian style curtain poles are going to look somewhat out of place, likewise, if you are trying to achieve an olde-worlde atmosphere, then very modern metal curtain poles are certainly or (please forgive me, curtainly) going to destroy the whole illusion.
Once you have found the poles and tracks to match your curtains and the rest of your decorating, there are still things to consider. Holdbacks are as important to the curtain pole as the curtain pole is to the curtain itself. Holdbacks are the small decorative items that funnily enough help to hold your curtains back when they are open. If anything, there is an even greater variety of holdbacks and they can be very decorative with designs that are fancy and also simplicity itself.
It used to be that to buy curtain poles that you would have to visit a DIY store on the High Street but the advent of the internet has changed all that with many websites allowing you to take time to choose and compare so that you can make the perfect curtain call when you select your curtain poles.
