Dash lights are Multi Purpose
Dash lights are very important in emergency vehicle lighting, especially in cases where the emergency light need not be mounted permanently. As emergency lights, they do a very good job though they may not ensure the type of visibility to the vehicles that police light bars provide. Emergency dash lights may be single or dual, and are available in blue, red, amber, and white, which are the common emergency lights colors used by emergency vehicles.
Dash lights that are used as detachable warning lights may come with magnetic mounts, suction cups or L brackets for mounting. These lights are available for permanent mounting also, but more users store these in their vehicles for emergency uses. Stationary police vehicles, or ambulances, attending to emergencies in dimly lit areas often use lights to warn other vehicles of its presence. Likewise, delivery trucks that are unloading things also temporarily activate their dash lights to warn other vehicles.
Some vehicle owners use small lights to light up the interior of the vehicles, because, dash lights come in very handy when a vehicle is chock-a-block with goods, or when you need to attend to a child inside a vehicle. These lights may use halogen, strobe, or LED technology. While LED lights are more recommended these days, for the type of temporary functions that dash lights are mostly used, LED is less needed, as it is expensive. However, those who need to use lights continuously can go in for LED dash lights.
Dash lights are very important for undercover operations. There are low profile lights that can be fitted under the slope of windshields with practically no obstruction. Some of these lights may be very small and single colored, either red or blue or amber or white, while others will be slightly larger and can be switched modes to flash different colors. Even single lights may have more than 20 flash patterns while dual dash lights will have more.
Vehicles users according to their requirement fix all these different types of lights. Besides these, there are built-in dash lights in every vehicle, which are designed to warn the driver when something is wrong with the vehicle. For example, if a Car Battery is weak, a dash light would flash to warn the driver that something is wrong with the battery.
These dash lights that flash to warn the driver may be yellow or red. As in the case of police lights and traffic lights, with dash lights also, yellow is a warning to be cautious, whereas red is a danger signal. For example, with regard to a dash light connected with fluids, when a yellow light is flashed, it might mean that the brake fluid is low, or that the engine oil is low. In such a case, the driver should essentially get it checked at the earliest opportunity.
When dash lights turn red, whether it is in connection with fluids, or engine, or whatever, it is a real danger signal. The driver should ideally find a place to stop the car as soon as possible and try to get the matter rectified. In short, vehicle dash lights of all types are a handy friend of all vehicle users.
