I purchased a home and have a locking, hinged electrical Switch Plate cover that I don’t what device it is for?
It’s located just outside of the Laundry Room and on the wall below the stairs to the attic. It does not appear to affect the ability to turn on or off any lights or fixtures. Does anyone have any idea of its purpose?
This I really anybody’s guess …..you will have to do some investigation.
I don’t know who owned the home before ….but if you can find out, it might give you a clue …trying to think in terms of their lifestyle ….did they have kids …someone with Alzheimer’s…… something that obviously needed to be protected from being switched on or off.
Also keep in mind, that whatever it controlled …may not be in the house anymore
