THE FIRST CONSUMER GRADED Nimh Battery
NiMH battery also known as the nickel- metal hydride cell is a secondary electrochemical cell which is similar to the Nickel Hydrogen cell. The NiMH cells have twice or thrice the capacity of any other Nickel cadmium battery which might be of the same size. These NiMH batteries came in the market in the year 1989. These batteries have a charging voltage in the range of 1.4-1.6 V/cell. If it is a fully charged cell, it will measure 1.35-1.4 V and will supply about 1.2 V/cell during discharge.
NiMH battery is used widely in the market because of its low price and good quality. NiMH battery is easily available and is pretty cheap. It is more efficient and safe to use than most of the batteries available in the market. But NiMH batteries have a problem of memory effect. These batteries have a life cycle of less than 500 cycles which is lesser than the NiCAD. Not ignoring its best features, we also need to know that it has a high self discharge rate.
Batteries are the most important part of our society today. We need batteries to run lot of devices which are used in our day to day life. There is no doubt that NiMH battery is used in most of the houses for some or the other devices. We can find this NiMH battery pack in the market which can be paired with an adapter. It can take the power and store in it for future use. NiMH batteries are environmentally friendly as it doesn?t require mining of the toxic cadmium. The cost of the NiMH battery is similar to the cost of Nickel Cadmium batteries. Although, you might have to spend a little extra for the cost of the Battery Charger and the NiMH Battery Packs.
