Chip Key – A Welcome Replacement to the Obsolete Manual Locking
Transponder keys are the answer for automobile security needs in today’s times when manual locking is a thing of the past. What makes the keyless entry system advanced as compared to the obsolete manual locking?
The world has gone tech-savvy. Everything from a sophisticated device to an electronic toy for children comes with an electronic chip for complete control and when it is security that we are talking about, how can we expect to rely on the age old lock and key for the security of our valued possessions. Hence, there is little doubt that there was a great need for a better Security System for the safety of automobiles that were vulnerable to theft with the old locking system that could be easily unlocked with simple tricks. Transponder keys are the answer to that need.
From the time that the keyless entry system has been introduced in cars, there is no looking back to the obsolete manual locking system as there is definitely no comparison between the two. While the manual locking system suffers from serious concerns, the keyless entry is a fresh change that offers a solution to all those problems. Problems like being easy to unlock with simple tricks, inconvenience in locking and the common problem that the locking allows the car to be locked without the key owing to which many a times people forgot the key inside the car while locking it from outside, were some common concerns that people faced with conventional locking.
Talking about keyless entry, it is an advanced locking system that goes beyond the conventional lock and key and introduces the use of electronic chips for better security. The system does not rely on lock and key combinations but on electronic codes that are unique to the car, which assures that there is no breach in security. The transponder key has a transmitter fitted on it that sends out radio signals to the car. The receiver which is a chip inside the car receives these signals and responds accordingly. If the code matches, the doors are locked or unlocked as desired, otherwise the car fails to open. This makes the security system far better than conventional locking.
There is more to the keyless entry system than security. The system being more technology oriented offers more convenience in use. For example, instead of locking all the doors separately, keyless entry allows you to lock all the doors of the car at the click of a single button. Now isn’t that quite simple? Whether you car is parked in the dark or you are loaded with heavy bags, just press a button and the car is locked without any hassles. All the doors, including the trunk can be locked and unlocked with a button even from a good distance. This is what makes using the keyless entry so much comfortable than conventional locking.
Little wonder then why all automobile companies have replaced the manual locking system with the better and advanced keyless entry system. While using a chip key ensures stronger security, the central locking offers more convenience in locking and unlocking. What’s more, being electronically programmed does not mean that you face problems in case the key is lost or broken. Though you can always keep a duplicate programmed key for emergency scenarios, even if you don’t have one it is easy to get a key programmed for your car in case the chip key is lost. What you need for that is a transponder key and a locksmith who can cut and program your key for use. Once that is done, your key is ready for use again.
